Consecration: Setting Apart for God's Purpose

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 41:4 – "And he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place."

Devotional Message

In Ezekiel 41, the prophet is given a vision of the temple, with detailed measurements and descriptions of its holy places. Among these, the Most Holy Place stands out as a sacred space set apart exclusively for God's presence. This reminds us of a fundamental truth in our spiritual walk—God calls us to a life of consecration.

To be consecrated means to be set apart for God's purpose. Just as the inner sanctuary of the temple was reserved for God's glory, our lives should be dedicated to Him. In the New Testament, Paul affirms this truth:

"Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV)

Many believers struggle with fully yielding to God's purpose because distractions, sin, or worldly pursuits compete for our devotion. However, true consecration involves three key steps:

  1. Separation from Sin: Just as the Most Holy Place was pure and undefiled, we must strive for holiness, forsaking anything that hinders our relationship with God (Hebrews 12:1).
  2. Dedication to God's Will: Consecration means surrendering our desires, ambitions, and plans to God's greater purpose (Romans 12:1-2).
  3. Daily Fellowship with God: The Most Holy Place was where God’s presence dwelled. We cultivate this intimacy through prayer, worship, and obedience.
