Scripture: "You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you..." – Ezekiel 28:12-13 (NIV)
Reflection
God creates everything with beauty and purpose. In Ezekiel 28, the King of Tyre is described in terms that many scholars believe also allude to Lucifer before his fall—perfect, full of wisdom, and adorned with splendor. This passage reminds us that God gives beauty, wisdom, and gifts for a divine purpose. However, when these gifts are misused or taken for personal glory, they can lead to corruption and destruction.
We, too, are created beautifully and wonderfully by God (Psalm 139:14). Each of us has been given unique gifts—wisdom, talents, and abilities—that should be used to glorify God, not ourselves. When we shift our focus away from God and towards self-exaltation, we risk losing sight of our purpose, just as the King of Tyre did.
Today, take time to reflect on the gifts God has given you. Are you using them for His glory, or have pride and self-centeredness crept in? True beauty and purpose come from living in alignment with God’s will, walking humbly, and serving His Kingdom.
