Scripture:
"Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says..." – Ezekiel 25:3, 6, 8, 12, 15
Reflection
Ezekiel 25 highlights God’s sovereignty over the nations. The Ammonites, Moabites, Edomites, and Philistines all believed they were in control, mocking and attacking Israel in its time of trouble. Yet, God declared judgment upon them, proving that He alone reigns over all people and kingdoms.
This passage reminds us that no matter how powerful individuals, governments, or enemies may seem, they are ultimately subject to God’s authority. The Lord sees everything—acts of wickedness, injustice, pride, and rebellion—and He alone determines the course of history. His justice is perfect, His timing is precise, and His rule is unshakable.
Application
- Trust in God’s Rule: Even when things seem chaotic, God is in control. No enemy or circumstance is greater than His power.
- Do Not Rejoice in Others’ Downfall: The Ammonites mocked Israel, thinking their destruction was permanent. But God reversed the situation, showing that He alone has the final say.
- Stay Humble Before God: Nations that exalt themselves above God will fall. Instead of trusting in our strength, we must submit to His will.
- Wait on God’s Justice: When we face opposition, we must remember that God sees everything. Instead of taking matters into our hands, we should trust Him to act at the right time.
Prayer
Sovereign Lord, I acknowledge that You reign over all things. Help me to trust in Your power, even when situations seem overwhelming. Keep my heart humble before You, and teach me to wait on Your perfect justice. May I always recognize that You are in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
