Lenten Devotional – Day 25
As we journey through this Lenten season, today’s scriptures remind us of the unwavering compassion of God, His promise of restoration, and the call to walk in His divine will.
1. God’s Time of Favor – Isaiah 49:8-15
"Thus says the Lord: ‘In the time of favor I have answered you, in a day of salvation I have helped you... Can a woman forget her nursing child? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.’” (Isaiah 49:8, 15)
Lent is a season of divine favor and restoration. God assures us that He has not forgotten us, no matter how desolate or weary we feel. He is the One who leads the captives to freedom, provides for the hungry, and shines His light upon those in darkness. If you have been struggling, feeling lost, or overwhelmed, take heart—God’s favor is upon you. Even when the world forsakes you, He holds you in the palm of His hand.
2. The Lord is Near – Psalm 145:8-18
"The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love... The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:8,18)
This Psalm beautifully captures God’s nature—He is not a distant, indifferent deity, but a compassionate Father who hears the cries of His children. During this Lenten period, we are reminded that true fasting is not just about abstaining from food but about drawing near to God with sincerity. He upholds those who fall and satisfies the desires of those who seek Him. Let this be a time when we call on Him in truth, knowing that He will answer and sustain us.
3. A Call to True Life – John 5:17-30
"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24)
Jesus speaks of the work of the Father, the authority He has been given, and the life that comes through Him. Lent is a season of reflection and realignment—are we truly living in the light of Christ’s salvation? Do our hearts hunger for eternal life? Jesus calls us not just to religious observance but to a life that is rooted in faith and obedience. There is a resurrection awaiting all, but only those who truly hear His voice will rise to the life of righteousness.
Conclusion: Embrace His Mercy and Walk in Newness of Life
On this 25th day of Lent, let us take comfort in God’s unfailing love, draw closer in repentance, and embrace the eternal life offered through Christ. He has not forgotten us, His mercy is boundless, and His call to salvation is urgent.
Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You for Your steadfast love and mercy. As we journey through this season, help us to trust in Your unfailing promises. Draw us closer to You and give us the grace to live according to Your will. May we embrace the life found in Christ and walk in the power of Your favor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
May this Lenten season be a time of deep renewal and transformation for you. Amen.
