Devotional

In Joshua 24:1–12, Joshua gathers the leaders of Israel at Shechem and reminds them of God’s mighty acts—from Abraham’s call, through the Exodus, to victories in the Promised Land. These were not mere history lessons but testimonies to magnify God’s name and inspire the people to keep trusting Him.

This passage teaches that our testimonies are divine tools. God’s works in our lives—whether deliverance, provision, healing, or protection—are not only for our benefit but also to encourage others.

When we share what God has done:

• We honor Him (Psalm 50:15).
• We encourage faith in others (Romans 10:17).
• We overcome spiritual battles (Revelation 12:11).

Joshua’s reminder to Israel shows that remembering and proclaiming God’s deeds fuels gratitude, obedience, and confidence in His future works.

Practical Examples

1. Provision in Hardship: A mother testifies how God miraculously provided food during a financial crisis, encouraging others in need to trust His provision (Philippians 4:19).
2. Healing after Long Suffering: A believer recounts being healed from chronic illness after years of prayer, giving hope to others battling disease (Psalm 103:2–3).
3. Guidance in Uncertainty: Someone shares how God led them to a career that matched their calling after repeated failures, assuring others of His direction (Proverbs 3:5–6).
4. Protection in Danger: A driver survives a near-fatal accident and credits God’s protection, inspiring gratitude and faith in God’s covering (Psalm 91:11).
