Scripture: “The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.” – Psalm 111:7 (NIV)
Devotional Reflection
Psalm 111 reminds us that everything God does is marked by faithfulness and justice. Verse 7 emphasizes that His works and His Word carry the same nature—unchanging, reliable, and true. In a world where promises are often broken and truth feels shifting, God’s Word stands as the one anchor we can trust.
The Hebrew word for faithful here conveys firmness, steadiness, and reliability. It is the same assurance echoed in Numbers 23:19: “God is not human, that he should lie…” What He has spoken, He will surely fulfill. His Word is not like human opinion that changes with time; it is eternal and dependable (Isaiah 40:8).
Throughout Scripture, we see His Word prove true. He promised Abraham a son and fulfilled it in due season (Genesis 21:1–2). He spoke deliverance to Israel and brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand (Exodus 12). Most importantly, He promised salvation through Christ, and in Jesus, that Word was fulfilled (John 1:14, Galatians 4:4).
For believers today, this means we can build our lives on His Word with full confidence. When He says He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), we can rest assured. When He says His peace will guard our hearts (Philippians 4:7), it is not wishful thinking but a guaranteed reality.
Life Application
Think of how we trust in human systems: we deposit money in banks believing it will be safe, or we step on a plane trusting the pilot and crew. Yet these systems sometimes fail. God’s Word, however, never fails. His promises are not subject to inflation, instability, or error. In moments of doubt, the call is to return to His Word, meditate on it, and remind ourselves: If God said it, He will do it.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your Word is faithful and true. Help me to trust Your promises even when circumstances say otherwise. Strengthen my faith to stand firm on Your Word, knowing You never fail. Amen.
