He Knows His Own

Scripture Reading: Luke 13:27 – “But He will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’

Devotional Reflection

Jesus’ words in this passage are a sober reminder that not everyone who appears religious or familiar with Him will enter the Kingdom. Many will claim to have eaten and drunk in His presence or heard His teachings, but mere exposure to spiritual things is not enough.

To “know” in this context speaks of intimate relationship—a bond grounded in love, faith, and obedience. God is not impressed by outward activity but by inward surrender. The tragedy of being told, “I don’t know you,” is not because Jesus never saw them, but because there was no genuine connection between them.

True discipleship demands more than association with church or ministry. It is about walking daily in truth, humility, and obedience to God’s Word.

Life Application:

Ask yourself today: Does Jesus truly know me? Do I have a real relationship with Him, or do I simply know about Him? Let your walk with Christ be marked by repentance, consistency, and love for righteousness.
Spend time in prayer, in the Word, and in obedience to His voice. When you live in alignment with His will, your life becomes evidence that you belong to Him.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I don’t want to just know about You—I want to know You deeply.
Help me walk in obedience and truth so that my life reflects Your character.
Search my heart and remove anything that separates me from You.
On that day, may I be counted among those You know as Yours.
Amen.
