Accountability Before the Master

Quote:

"Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to the result." – Bob Proctor

Scripture Reading:
Luke 19:11-27 (The Parable of the Ten Minas)

Devotional Reflection
In this parable, Jesus teaches about the responsibility each servant has in using what their master entrusts to them. The servants who actively worked and multiplied what they were given were rewarded, while the one who hid his mina out of fear faced rebuke.

As believers, we are entrusted with resources, talents, time, and influence. God expects us to use these gifts faithfully to advance His kingdom. Our lives are not just for personal gain but for eternal purposes. This passage reminds us that accountability is inevitable. We will all stand before the Master to give an account of how we have managed what He has given us.

Fear, laziness, or procrastination can tempt us to bury what God has placed in our hands, but doing nothing has spiritual consequences. True faithfulness is seen in action—how we invest in God’s kingdom, serve others, and multiply our gifts for eternal reward.

Life Application:

  1. Take inventory of the gifts, resources, and opportunities God has entrusted to you.
  2. Ask yourself: Am I actively using them for God’s glory, or am I holding back out of fear or laziness?
  3. Set measurable goals to serve God faithfully in your community, church, or workplace.
  4. Seek God’s guidance daily to invest your time and talents in ways that honor Him and impact others.
  5. Regularly reflect on your life, asking God to show you areas where accountability is needed.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me with gifts, resources, and opportunities. Help me to be faithful in using them for Your glory and the advancement of Your kingdom. Give me courage to act, wisdom to steward well, and diligence to multiply what You have given me. Forgive me for times I have been idle or fearful, and help me to live a life worthy of Your calling. May I hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” when I stand before You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
