Scripture Reading: Matthew 4:16; Ephesians 5:8
Devotional Reflection
Matthew tells us that those who sat in darkness have seen a great light. This was not just a moment in history. It was a turning point for humanity. Jesus steps into Galilee, a place known for rejection and neglect, and light breaks through. Epiphany reminds us that God reveals Himself right where darkness seems strongest.
Paul builds on this truth in Ephesians 5:8 when he says, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Notice he does not say we visit the light occasionally. He calls us to walk in it. Light is now our way of life.
Walking in the light means choosing truth over convenience, obedience over comfort, and hope over fear. It means letting Christ shape our decisions, our words, and our witness. Light exposes, but it also heals. It shows us where to grow and how to live differently.
Epiphany invites us to ask an honest question. Are we walking in the light we have received, or are we hiding parts of our lives in the shadows? Christ’s light is not meant to condemn us, but to lead us into freedom.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the true light that shines in every dark place. Help me to walk daily in Your light. Expose what needs to change, heal what is broken, and guide my steps in truth and love. Let my life reflect Your light to others. Amen.
Benediction
May the light of Christ shine upon your path.
May every shadow in your life give way to His truth.
And may you walk daily as a child of light,
to the glory of God and the blessing of the world.
Amen.
