God’s Glory Will Return

Ezekiel 10:18 – “Then the glory of the Lord departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.”

Introduction

There is nothing more devastating than losing the presence of God. In Ezekiel 10, we see a tragic moment when God’s glory leaves the temple due to Israel’s persistent sin and rebellion. The temple, once filled with His divine presence, becomes empty. However, this is not the end of the story. The good news is that God’s glory can return when we turn back to Him with sincere hearts.

Recognizing the Absence of God’s Presence

Just as Israel’s disobedience led to the departure of God’s glory, we too can experience spiritual dryness when we drift away from Him. Sometimes, this happens gradually—through neglecting prayer, ignoring God’s Word, or allowing sin to take root in our hearts. Have you ever felt distant from God? If so, it’s time for self-examination and renewal.

God’s Desire to Restore

Even though God's glory departed in Ezekiel 10, the story does not end in abandonment. Later in the book, in Ezekiel 43, we see the promise of God's glory returning to the temple. This reveals His unchanging nature—God longs to dwell among His people! No matter how far we’ve fallen, He is always ready to restore us when we come back to Him in repentance.

Steps to Welcome Back God’s Glory

  1. Repentance – Genuine repentance invites God’s presence back into our lives. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
  2. Holiness – God dwells in purity. We must cleanse our hearts and dedicate ourselves to Him. (1 Peter 1:16)
  3. Prayer and Worship – An atmosphere of prayer and worship draws God near. (Psalm 22:3)
  4. Obedience to His Word – Walking in obedience ensures we remain in His presence. (John 14:23)

Encouragement for Today

If you have felt far from God, be encouraged—His glory will return when you seek Him with all your heart. He is not done with you! Just as He restored His presence among His people in Ezekiel’s vision, He desires to fill your life with His power, peace, and guidance.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I need Your presence in my life. Forgive me for any way I have drifted from You. Cleanse my heart and restore me. Let Your glory fill my life once again, that I may walk in Your light and fulfill Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
