God Uses Ordinary People for Extraordinary Purposes

Scripture Reading: Esther 2:7“Mordecai had brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was lovely and beautiful. When her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.”

Devotional Message:

Esther’s story is one of divine transformation. She started as Hadassah, a simple Jewish girl, an orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai. By human standards, she had little to offer—no wealth, no royal connections, no special privileges. Yet, God had a plan far beyond what she could imagine.

Too often, we disqualify ourselves from God’s great purposes because of our past, our limitations, or our perceived inadequacies. We think, “I am not important enough,” or “I don’t have the resources,” but God specializes in using the least likely people to accomplish His will.

Esther’s life shows us that it doesn’t matter where we come from—what matters is where God is taking us. He lifted her from obscurity to the palace, from an orphan to a queen. The same God who positioned Esther for greatness is the same God who is working in your life.

No matter your background, weaknesses, or challenges, God sees potential in you. He does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Your past does not define your future—God does.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Do you ever feel unqualified for the plans God has for you?
  2. How can you trust God more with your journey, even when you feel ordinary?
  3. What steps can you take today to align yourself with God’s purpose?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that You use ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. Help me to trust in Your plan for my life, even when I feel insignificant. I believe You have placed me where I am for a reason. Use me for Your glory, and let my life be a testimony of Your power and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
