Seasons of Preparation: Trusting God’s Process

Key Verse:

"Each young woman’s turn came to go to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation—according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women." — Esther 2:12

Devotional Message:

Before Esther could step into her destiny as queen, she had to undergo a season of preparation. This was not a rushed process; it took an entire year of treatment, refinement, and training. Sometimes, we desire elevation, breakthroughs, and new seasons, but we are not yet prepared to step into them. God, in His wisdom, takes us through a process that refines us, builds our character, and equips us for the assignment ahead.

Just like Esther, our preparation may involve:

  1. A Season of Refinement – The oil of myrrh in her beauty treatment symbolizes purification. Before we step into God’s promises, He purifies our hearts, motives, and attitudes. He removes anything that could hinder our ability to carry the weight of our calling.

  2. A Season of Growth – The six months of perfumes represent a process of transformation and fragrance. As we yield to God, He cultivates spiritual disciplines in us—prayer, patience, wisdom, and endurance.

  3. A Season of Waiting – Esther had to wait for her appointed time. Sometimes, waiting can feel like a delay, but in God's plan, it is a time of preparation. If you are in a waiting season, trust that God is working behind the scenes, preparing you for what is ahead.

Application:

  • Are you in a season of preparation? Trust God's timing.
  • Instead of rushing, embrace the process—God is refining you for something greater.
  • Allow the Holy Spirit to transform your heart, mind, and character.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I trust that You are preparing me for greater things. Help me to embrace the process and not rush ahead of Your perfect timing. Refine my heart, teach me patience, and mold me into the person You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
