God’s Covenant Stands Forever

Key Verse:

"Because you have said, ‘These two nations and countries will be ours, and we will take possession of them,’ even though the LORD was there..."Ezekiel 35:10 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:

Ezekiel 35 is a prophecy against Edom (Mount Seir), a nation that constantly opposed Israel. In verse 10, Edom wrongly assumed they could claim the land that belonged to God’s people, forgetting that "the LORD was there." Their mistake was not just attacking Israel but failing to recognize that God's covenant with His people was unbreakable.

Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s promises are everlasting. When He establishes a covenant, no enemy, no scheme, and no power can overturn it. Even when circumstances seem to threaten His promises, God remains faithful.

Edom thought Israel was vulnerable after their exile, but they overlooked one crucial truth: God was still in control. The same applies to us. The enemy may try to steal our peace, joy, and purpose, but he cannot take what God has divinely ordained. If God has spoken a promise over your life, it is settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89).

Personal Reflection:

  • Are there areas in your life where you feel opposition against God’s promises?
  • How can you remind yourself that "the LORD is there" in your situation?
  • Are you standing on God’s word, or are you allowing fear and doubt to take over?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your unchanging covenant. Even when the enemy tries to steal my blessings, I trust that what You have spoken over my life is settled. Help me to stand firm in faith, knowing that You are always present in my situation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
