Lenten Devotional – Day 6
Scripture Readings
Isaiah 55:10-11 – “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Psalm 34:4-6, 21-22 – “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles... The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.”
Matthew 6:7-15 – Jesus said: “When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words… This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…’”
Reflection: The Word That Never Fails
As we continue our Lenten journey, God reminds us today of the unchanging power of His Word. Just as the rain nourishes the earth and brings forth life, so does the Word of God transform our lives. The season of Lent calls us to repentance, renewal, and reliance on God's promises. What is God saying to you in this season?
1. Trust in the Power of God’s Word
Isaiah 55:10-11 assures us that God’s Word will accomplish what He desires. If God has spoken a word over your life, it is settled forever—it will surely come to pass! In this Lenten season, let us meditate on Scripture, knowing that every promise of God will bear fruit in our lives.
Lenten Action: Spend extra time reading and meditating on God’s Word. Let it shape your prayers and your expectations.
2. Seek the Lord with Confidence
Psalm 34:4-6 reminds us that when we seek the Lord, He hears us and delivers us. Fasting and prayer are acts of seeking. We humble ourselves, recognizing our need for God's intervention. Whatever fears, anxieties, or burdens you carry this season, bring them before the Lord in faith—He will answer.
Lenten Action: Identify one fear or burden and surrender it to God in prayer today.
3. Pray with Intimacy and Faith
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:7-15 that prayer is not about empty words but a heartfelt connection with our Heavenly Father. During Lent, our prayers should be deeper, drawing us closer to God’s presence. The Lord’s Prayer is a powerful model—it reminds us of God’s holiness, provision, forgiveness, and deliverance.
Lenten Action: Pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly and intentionally today. Let each phrase sink into your spirit.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the power of Your Word that never fails. In this Lenten season, help us to seek You with all our hearts, to trust in Your promises, and to pray with faith. Let Your Word transform us, renew us, and draw us closer to You. We surrender our fears, burdens, and desires to You. Let Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
