Seeking God with All Our Hearts

Scripture Readings:

  • Isaiah 55:6-9"Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near."
  • Psalm 138"On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased."
  • Matthew 7:7-12"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

A Season of Seeking

Lent is a sacred time of deep reflection, repentance, and renewal. It is a call to draw closer to God, aligning our hearts with His will. In Isaiah 55:6-9, God invites us to seek Him while He may be found, reminding us that His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. This means that as we fast, pray, and meditate on His Word, we must surrender our limited understanding and trust in His divine purpose.

Many times, we struggle to hear God’s voice, not because He is distant, but because our hearts are too cluttered with distractions. Lent urges us to declutter our spiritual lives—letting go of sinful habits, renewing our commitment to prayer, and seeking God with fresh passion.

The Assurance of Answered Prayer

Jesus assures us in Matthew 7:7-12 that when we ask, we will receive; when we seek, we will find; and when we knock, the door will be opened. This is a divine guarantee that God is attentive to our cries. During Lent, as we ask for strength, wisdom, and spiritual growth, we must believe that God hears us.

Sometimes, it feels as if our prayers are delayed, but Psalm 138 reminds us that God answers in His perfect timing: "On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased." Though the answer may not come immediately, our souls are strengthened in the process.

Responding to God’s Invitation

  1. Seek Him with Urgency – Do not delay in drawing near to God. Make time for personal prayer and reflection.
  2. Trust in His Higher Ways – When life seems uncertain, rest in the truth that God’s ways are beyond our understanding.
  3. Pray with Confidence – Be bold in your requests, knowing that God delights in giving good gifts to His children.
  4. Walk in Obedience – Seeking God is not just about prayer; it involves surrender and a willingness to follow His lead.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, in this Lenten season, help me to seek You with all my heart. Remove every distraction that keeps me from hearing Your voice. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your perfect ways and timing. As I ask, seek, and knock, let my heart remain steadfast in Your promises. Thank You for answering my prayers and drawing me closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
