Scripture: “Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.” – Esther 10:3 (NIV)
Devotional:
What a story Mordecai lived! From sitting at the king’s gate as a humble servant to becoming the second most powerful man in the Persian Empire — his journey is nothing short of divine promotion.
But Mordecai’s greatness wasn’t rooted in ambition or personal gain. It was built on faithfulness, wisdom, and selfless service. He didn’t seek a throne; he sought justice. He didn’t chase recognition; he stood for righteousness — and God elevated him in due time.
The gate, often seen as a place of decision-making and judgment, became Mordecai’s training ground. There, he remained loyal, alert, and unwavering in his convictions. His integrity shone even in obscurity.
Too often, we despise our “gate seasons” — those low places where we feel unseen or underutilized. But God sees. And like Mordecai, He is preparing us in hidden places for greater influence. When the time is right, He opens doors no man can shut.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to remain faithful where I am. Teach me to serve with integrity and speak peace like Mordecai. Prepare me for the greatness You have planned — not for my glory, but for the good of others and the glory of Your name. Amen.
