From Dry Bones to Divine Destiny

Lenten Devotional-Day 34

Scripture Readings:
Ezekiel 37:21–end | Psalm 121 | John 11:45–end

As we journey through Day 34 of the Lenten season, our hearts are drawn to a powerful truth: God is able to bring life where there is death, and hope where there is despair.

In Ezekiel 37, we see a valley filled with dry bones — lifeless, hopeless, scattered. But God declares, “I will take the Israelites out of the nations... I will gather them... and bring them back to their own land.” This is not just about physical restoration; it's about spiritual revival. God promises to cleanse, unify, and dwell with His people forever. In this Lenten season, we too are being called back — from our broken places, our spiritual dryness, and our scattered hearts.

Psalm 121 reminds us that even in this difficult journey of repentance and renewal, “our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” He watches over us, guards our steps, and never sleeps on our needs. As we fast and pray, we are not alone. God is our Keeper.

Then in John 11:45–end, we witness the aftermath of Lazarus’ resurrection. While some believe in Jesus, others plot against Him. But even in the face of death threats, Jesus stays on mission — because His death would mean our life. Lent reminds us that Jesus willingly walked towards the cross so that we, like Lazarus, might be raised from spiritual death.

Reflection:

  • Are there areas in your life that feel like a valley of dry bones — lifeless and without hope?
  • Do you trust that the God who raised Lazarus and restored Israel can restore you too?

Today, believe this: No situation is too dry for God. No heart is too dead for Him to revive. This Lenten season, surrender to the God who gathers, heals, and raises. Let Him breathe life into your soul.

Prayer:
Lord, bring me back from every place I’ve been scattered. Breathe Your Spirit into my dry places. Let this Lent not be a routine, but a revival. Like Lazarus, call me out of the tomb of my past into the light of Your glory. I lift my eyes to You, my Help and my Keeper. Amen.
