The King Has Come—Will You Welcome Him In?

The King Has Come—Will You Welcome Him In?

Scripture: Matthew 21:1–11

As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, the city was stirred. Crowds gathered, spreading their cloaks and palm branches on the road, shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" They were celebrating a King—not one who came with chariots and swords, but one who came in peace and humility.

This moment was powerful, but it raises a deeper question: What kind of King are we truly welcoming into our lives?

The people praised Jesus, but many of them didn’t understand His mission. They expected a political savior, but He came to save souls. They wanted someone to overthrow Rome, but He came to overthrow sin.

Today, Jesus is still entering hearts—not on a donkey, but through the Holy Spirit. The question is: will we recognize Him for who He truly is? Not just a helper in times of need, but the Lord of all, the King of our hearts.

Let us not only shout “Hosanna” with our lips, but surrender our hearts in obedience. Let us not only spread palm branches on the road, but lay down our pride, our fears, our sin—so He can reign fully in us.

Reflection:

  • What kind of King is Jesus to you today?
  • Is He leading your decisions, or just called on in emergencies?
  • Like the crowd, are you excited about His presence but hesitant to follow His path?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I welcome You not just as Savior, but as King over every area of my life. Teach me to recognize You beyond the noise of the crowd, and to follow You with a surrendered heart. Amen.
