Lenten Devotional-Day 35 – Monday in Holy Week
Scripture Focus:
Isaiah 42:1-9 | Psalm 36:5-11 | Hebrews 9:11-15 | John 12:1-11
Reflection:
As we enter Holy Week, today’s readings draw our hearts closer to Jesus, the Servant King, whose love and sacrifice have changed our lives forever.
In Isaiah 42, we are introduced to God’s chosen servant—gentle yet powerful, humble yet strong. This is a picture of Jesus, who came not to crush but to heal, not to shout but to serve. Even as He faced the cross, He never turned away from His mission of love.
The Psalmist reminds us that God’s love is vast and faithful. “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens” (Psalm 36:5). During Lent, we are constantly reminded of how deep and wide God's love is—strong enough to carry our burdens, and gracious enough to forgive our sins.
In Hebrews 9, we see Jesus as our High Priest, not offering the blood of animals, but His own blood to wash us clean once and for all. His sacrifice is the foundation of our faith and freedom. Through His death, we are made new.
And in John 12, we meet Mary—offering her most precious gift, anointing Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume. This act of worship and love shows us what true devotion looks like. She didn’t hold back. In the presence of Jesus, she gave her all.
Lenten Message:
Lent calls us to slow down and reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross. It calls us to worship like Mary, to serve like the servant in Isaiah, and to trust in the unshakable love of God. Jesus gave everything for us. What are we willing to give for Him?
As we journey through this Holy Week, let us open our hearts to deeper surrender. Let us walk with Jesus—not just in remembrance, but in obedience and love.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Servant King who chose the way of love and sacrifice. Teach me to follow You with a heart of worship, obedience, and deep trust. Help me to give my best to You every day. May Your love be forever settled in my heart. Amen.
