Reflection:
Today is Good Friday—a day that carries both deep sorrow and profound hope. We remember the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. It's called "Good" not because of the pain He went through, but because of what His sacrifice accomplished: our salvation.
Isaiah 52:13–53:12 paints a powerful picture of Jesus, the Suffering Servant, who took on our pain, carried our sins, and was crushed for our healing. He didn’t fight back, though He was innocent. He chose silence so that we could find our voice in grace.
Psalm 22:1–11 captures the raw emotion of Jesus’ cry on the cross: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Even in His anguish, Jesus trusted God. In our own dark moments, we too can cry out—but like Jesus, we must hold on to trust, knowing that God is near even when He seems silent.
Hebrews 10:16–25 reminds us of the new covenant. Jesus’ death was not the end, but the beginning of a new way to relate to God. No more animal sacrifices—Jesus' blood opened the way for us to approach God with confidence. We’re encouraged to hold tightly to our faith, encourage one another, and keep meeting together as a community.
John 18–19 walks us through the painful journey of Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, trial, crucifixion, and burial. It’s a hard read—but in it, we see the greatest act of love in human history. Jesus endured it all—for you, for me, for the whole world.
Practical Takeaways:
Reflect and Respond: Today, pause and think about what Jesus did for you. He went through injustice, pain, and death so you could live in freedom. Let gratitude lead your day.
Live Sacrificial Love: Jesus gave everything for us. How can you show that kind of love today? Maybe it's forgiving someone, helping the needy, or simply being present for a hurting friend.
Encourage Someone: Hebrews reminds us to “spur one another on.” Share a word of encouragement or prayer with someone who feels forgotten or broken today.
Draw Near to God: No more barriers—Jesus tore the veil. Spend time in prayer, knowing that you are fully accepted because of His sacrifice.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for going to the cross for me. Thank You for Your love that paid the ultimate price. On this Good Friday, help me to reflect deeply, love sacrificially, and live boldly for You. Give me strength to walk in Your footsteps, even when the road is hard. May my life be a witness of Your mercy. Amen.
Final Thought:
Today may feel heavy, but Sunday is coming. The cross was not the end—it was the doorway to new life. As you reflect on the cost of your freedom, remember that you are deeply loved, fully forgiven, and eternally valued.
