Lenten Devotional-Day 24
Scripture Readings:
- Ezekiel 47:1-9,12
- Psalm 46:1-8
- John 5:1-3, 5-16
Reflection:
Lent is a season of renewal, healing, and drawing closer to the abundant life found in God. Today's scriptures paint a powerful picture of divine restoration and transformation.
In Ezekiel 47:1-9,12, the prophet sees a vision of a river flowing from the temple, bringing life wherever it goes. The deeper the river gets, the more its waters bring healing and nourishment. This river represents the life-giving presence of God, which revives barren lands, restores what was broken, and brings newness to all things.
Similarly, in John 5:1-16, we meet a man who had been sick for 38 years, lying by the Pool of Bethesda, waiting for healing. Jesus, full of mercy and power, approaches him and asks, "Do you want to be healed?" The man, trapped in his limitations, explains why he cannot reach the pool. But Jesus, who is greater than any earthly waters, speaks healing into his life, saying, “Rise, take up your mat, and walk.” Instantly, the man is restored.
Lent is a time when Jesus calls us to rise from our spiritual stagnation, to step into the healing flow of His grace. Just as the waters in Ezekiel’s vision bring life wherever they touch, so does the living water of Christ cleanse, refresh, and renew our souls.
Psalm 46:1-8 reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” No matter the struggles we face—be it spiritual dryness, sin, or personal battles—God is with us. He is our source of peace in the storms of life.
Application:
- Step into the River of Life – Surrender to God’s healing power. Spend time in prayer and repentance, allowing His Spirit to refresh and restore you.
- Receive Christ’s Healing – Just as the man at Bethesda was healed by Jesus' word, trust in God’s power to heal you—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
- Live in Faith and Obedience – Jesus told the man to take up his mat and walk. What areas of your life is God calling you to rise from? Walk forward in faith.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, during this Lenten season, I come before You thirsty for Your life-giving water. Let Your healing river flow over my soul, washing away all that hinders my walk with You. Heal my heart, renew my spirit, and strengthen my faith. Help me to trust in You as my refuge and strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.
May today be a day of renewal as you step into the river of God’s abundant grace. Rise, take up your mat, and walk!
