A New Heaven and a New Earth

Lent is a season of reflection, renewal, and repentance, where we journey with Christ, longing for the transformation that only He can bring. In Isaiah 65:17-21, God declares, "Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind." This passage is a powerful reminder that God is in the business of renewal. Just as He promised to restore Israel, He is also working in our lives, purging us from our old ways and leading us into His divine purpose.

As we walk through Lent, are we allowing God to create something new in us? Are we letting go of past burdens and embracing His newness? This season is an opportunity to surrender our old selves and step into the joy of God's restoration.

Waiting on the Lord: A Testimony of Deliverance

Psalm 40 speaks of patient waiting and trust in the Lord: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock." Many times, we struggle with waiting—waiting for answers, waiting for breakthrough, waiting for transformation. But Lent teaches us to trust in God’s timing.

David acknowledges that God’s faithfulness is unshakable. When we offer ourselves to Him fully, He lifts us out of despair and fills us with a new song of praise. "I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." This is the essence of Lent—aligning our hearts with God’s will, seeking Him in humility, and rejoicing in His mercy.

Faith that Brings Healing and Restoration

In John 4:43-end, Jesus heals the official’s son, revealing the power of faith. The man believed in Jesus’ word before he saw the miracle. Lent calls us to this kind of faith—trusting in God even when we do not see immediate results. Jesus said, "Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe." But true faith does not rely on visible proof; it rests on the unshakable foundation of God's word.

As we continue our Lenten journey, let us remember:

  1. God is making all things new—let go of the past and embrace His work in you.
  2. Wait patiently on the Lord—trust that He will lift you up at the right time.
  3. Walk by faith, not by sight—believe in His promises even when you cannot see the outcome.

May this season draw us closer to Christ, preparing our hearts for the glory of His resurrection.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we journey through Lent, create in us a new heart. Help us to trust in You, wait patiently for Your deliverance, and walk by faith. Renew our minds and transform our lives for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
