Scripture Focus:
“Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.’” – John 14:23
“When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home.” – Acts 16:15a
Devotional Thought
Love is more than a feeling—it’s a divine commitment expressed in action. In John 14:23, Jesus gives us a powerful key: love for Him is shown through obedience. And in response, the Father and Son dwell with the obedient soul.
We see this love in motion in Acts 16:15, where Lydia, after believing in Christ, opens her home to Paul and his companions. Her conversion wasn’t just a private spiritual experience—it translated into hospitality and service. Her obedience brought the Gospel into her household and community.
The early church grew because individuals like Lydia didn’t just say “I believe”—they lived their belief by welcoming others, showing generosity, and being active in mission. Lydia’s home became a sanctuary for the Gospel because her heart had been opened by the Lord (Acts 16:14).
Application
Today, our love for Jesus should reflect in how we treat others—how we open our homes, hearts, and resources to support God’s work. Are you living a life that says, “Come in,” to both God and His people? Is your obedience visible through acts of love and generosity?
Lydia didn’t wait to be asked—her faith moved her to act. That’s the kind of love Christ calls us to: one that welcomes, serves, and builds community.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to love You in truth and obedience. Help me to open my heart and home to others, just as You have welcomed me into Yours. Amen.
