Acts 20:19 (NIV)

Devotional
Life, at its core, is a journey filled with both mountaintop experiences and valley trials. For the Apostle Paul, trials weren’t occasional—they were constant companions. As he addressed the Ephesian elders, Paul didn’t sugarcoat his experiences. He spoke of tears, humility, and severe testing. Yet through it all, he served the Lord faithfully.
This is a powerful lesson: God does not promise a life without pain, but He promises His presence through the pain. When Paul mentioned the “plots of his opponents,” he wasn’t just referencing personal attacks—he was highlighting spiritual resistance, emotional strain, and physical danger. Still, he didn’t quit.
Just like Paul, we often face difficult seasons—loss, betrayal, sickness, financial struggle, spiritual dry spells. These moments test our faith, threaten our peace, and challenge our endurance. But here's the hope: Trials don’t disqualify us—they refine us.
Three Encouragements from Paul’s Life:
-
Humility in Trials:
Paul approached his hardships with humility, not pride. He didn’t demand answers—he leaned into God’s grace. -
Tears are Valid:
Paul cried. Yes, the great apostle wept! Tears are not a sign of weakness but a language of trust. Don’t be ashamed of your emotions—God bottles every tear (Psalm 56:8). -
Trials are Temporary, but Testimonies are Eternal:
The very trials Paul endured became the platform for his greatest testimonies. What you're going through can become someone else's breakthrough.
Reflection
Are you going through something that feels unbearable right now? Like Paul, your path may be filled with trials, but you are not alone. God is shaping something in you—strength, resilience, compassion—that only fire can form.
Prayer
Lord, when trials overwhelm me, help me not to retreat but to rise. Strengthen my heart, steady my feet, and renew my trust in You. Remind me that every tear I shed is seen, and every storm I face is within Your control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Thought
Don’t let the weight of the world cause you to give up. Press on. Like Paul, serve faithfully—even with tears. Your trial today could be the testimony someone else needs tomorrow.
