The Power of God’s Presence

Scripture:

“I will be with you.” – Exodus 3:12

Devotional:

Have you ever faced a challenge so overwhelming that you wondered if you could really pull through? Whether it’s a task that feels too big or a situation that seems too difficult, we all have moments where we doubt our ability to succeed. In these times, it’s easy to feel small, inadequate, or even afraid. But in Exodus 3:12, God spoke words that Moses desperately needed to hear, words that we also need to hear today: “I will be with you.”

Moses had just encountered the living God in the form of a burning bush that didn’t burn out. His life was about to change forever. He was being called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, a mission that seemed impossible. Moses was just a shepherd, a man with no political power, no army, and no formal training. He had every reason to doubt himself. But God’s response was simple yet profound: “I will be with you.”

God’s promise to Moses is the same promise He makes to us today. He doesn’t send us on missions and tasks without His assurance of presence. When we feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, God doesn’t leave us to struggle alone; He walks with us every step of the way. That’s the real strength we need to draw on. It’s not about our ability; it’s about His presence.

The Courage to Step Forward

Imagine standing at the edge of the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army closing in. That was Moses’ reality, yet he boldly stretched out his hand in faith because he remembered God’s promise. When you stand before a daunting task, whether it’s a difficult conversation, a career decision, or a personal challenge, you need to remember that God’s presence is with you. When you recognize who is with you, you will no longer be afraid.

In 2009, a man named Nick Vujicic was born without arms or legs. His childhood was filled with struggles, bullying, and feelings of being “different.” Yet, he overcame this through faith and the belief that God had a purpose for his life. Today, Nick is an international motivational speaker, spreading the message of God’s love and presence. He has faced many challenges, but he often says, “It’s not about the challenge you face, but who is walking with you through it.”

Practical Example:

Let’s think about a situation we all can relate to: taking on a new role at work. You might feel underqualified or unsure of your ability to meet the expectations. In these moments, God’s promise should bring you comfort: “I will be with you.” It’s like having an experienced mentor by your side, guiding you through every task, encouraging you, and helping you to grow. Just like Moses, God is telling you: you’re not alone. His presence will equip you to handle every challenge, to face every fear, and to step forward with boldness.

Application:

  • Identify Who You Are: You are not just an ordinary person going through life. You are a child of God, chosen for a purpose. When you know who you are in Christ, you walk with confidence.

  • Identify Who Is With You: It’s not just about what you can do. It’s about who is walking beside you. God, the Creator of the universe, is with you. He goes before you, surrounds you, and empowers you.

  • Be Bold: Like Moses, you have to take the first step, even when the road seems impossible. But remember: God’s presence gives you the courage to move forward.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the assurance of Your presence in every moment of my life. Help me to recognize that no task is too great, no challenge too big when I have You by my side. Give me the courage to step out boldly, trusting that You will lead and empower me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
