When Faith Meets Power: God Will Make Them See

Key Verse:

“When the crowds saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.” — Matthew 9:8 (NIV)

Devotional

Some battles in life feel like they’ve pinned us down. Maybe it's a sickness, a cycle of hardship, or a heavy burden that won’t let up. We pray, we cry, and sometimes it feels like nothing is shifting. But Matthew 9 shows us something powerful that faith still moves the heart of God.

In this story, a paralyzed man couldn’t walk to Jesus, but his friends believed enough to carry him. Their faith reached Jesus before their words did. And what did Jesus do? He forgave the man’s sins and healed his body. He touched what was broken inside and out.

But the story doesn’t end there. Verse 8 says, “When the crowds saw this, they were filled with awe.” People who had nothing to do with the healing, maybe even some who doubted or criticized were stunned. They witnessed God’s power at work, and all they could do was give Him glory.

That’s the kind of miracle God wants to do in your life. He wants to lift you from the place where you’ve been stuck and prove to the world that He is still in control. Your healing, breakthrough, or turnaround won't be hidden. It will cause those who overlooked you, doubted you, or even opposed you to stand back and say, “God did this.”

So don’t stop believing. Even if you feel paralyzed by your situation, bring your need before Jesus. Surround yourself with people of faith who will carry you in prayer when you’re too weak to stand. God is still in the business of transformation. And when He moves, He makes sure it’s seen.

Prayer

Lord, I bring my burdens to You. Strengthen my faith and surround me with people who believe in Your power. Let my testimony cause others to glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
