Scripture: “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 3:11 (NIV)Devotional Reflection
In Luke 6:47–49, Jesus contrasts two builders: one who dug deep and laid his foundation on the rock, and another who built without a foundation. Both faced storms, but only the house on the rock stood firm. The message is simple yet profound—life built on Christ is unshakable.
Our world is filled with shifting sands: wealth, fame, relationships, and self-reliance. These may look sturdy for a while, but when storms of sickness, loss, temptation, or trials come, they collapse. Christ alone is the rock that holds steady through it all.
The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:11 that no foundation can be laid other than Jesus Christ. He is the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20) on which every believer must build. Choosing to obey His Word, trust His promises, and surrender fully to Him is the only way to secure a life that endures.
Practical Application
- Examine your foundation: Is your life built on Christ or on temporary things?
- Daily alignment: Ground yourself in Scripture and prayer so that your choices reflect obedience to Him.
- Faith in storms: When challenges come, remind yourself that your security is not in circumstances but in Christ who never changes.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I confess that You are the solid rock on which I stand. Forgive me for the times I have built on shaky ground. Help me to anchor my life in Your Word, my hope in Your promises, and my future in Your hands. Strengthen me to endure every storm with unwavering faith in You. Amen
