God’s Unfailing Love and Grace

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 16:8

"Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine."

Devotional Message

Ezekiel 16 paints a striking picture of God’s relationship with Israel, portraying the nation as a helpless child whom God rescued, nurtured, and adorned with love. The imagery of covering with His garment symbolizes divine protection, provision, and a covenant relationship. This passage reminds us of the depth of God's unfailing love and grace, not just for Israel but for each of us today.

Like Israel, we were once lost and unworthy, yet God chose us. He saw us in our brokenness and sin, yet He did not turn away. Instead, He reached out, covered our shame, and invited us into His family. His love is not based on our merits but on His boundless grace.

Sometimes, we may feel unworthy of God’s love because of past mistakes. But Ezekiel 16:8 reassures us that God’s love is not transactional—it is unconditional. He does not abandon us when we falter but continually calls us back into His embrace.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and grace. Even when I was undeserving, You chose me, covered my shame, and called me Your own. Help me to walk in the confidence of Your love and extend the same grace to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
