Devotional Thought:
Today is Maundy Thursday, a sacred moment in the Lenten journey where we reflect deeply on love, sacrifice, and service. As we move closer to the cross, God invites us to pause, reflect, and act.
In Genesis 12, God calls Abram to leave everything familiar and step into the unknown. It’s a bold call to trust and obey. In this Lenten season, we too are called to step out of our comfort zones—whether it’s forgiving someone, giving up a harmful habit, or saying "yes" to a new direction God is leading us toward. Faith is not just believing; it’s moving when God says, “Go.”
Psalm 116 reminds us why we choose to follow God—it’s because He hears us, delivers us, and walks with us in our pain. This Lent, many of us have cried out for help, healing, and hope. Be assured, God has not turned His ear away from you. He is with you and will continue to sustain you.
In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul shares the tradition of the Last Supper. Jesus breaks the bread and lifts the cup, not for Himself, but for us. He tells us to “do this in remembrance” of Him. Maundy Thursday calls us to remember not just a ritual, but a relationship—a deep, personal connection with the One who gave His all for us. Every time we remember His sacrifice, we also recommit to living a life that reflects His love.
And then in John 13, the King of Kings does something unexpected—He washes feet. Not as a show, but as a lesson. If Jesus could stoop low to serve, so can we. Service is not about position; it’s about compassion. In our world today, service may look like helping a struggling friend, listening without judging, or standing up for someone who feels invisible.
Reflection:
- What is God asking you to leave behind this Lent so you can fully follow Him like Abram?
- How can you serve someone selflessly today, just like Jesus washed His disciples' feet?
- As you remember the cross, how can your life reflect that love in everyday moments?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for calling me to walk with You, to remember Your love, and to serve others like You did. Teach me to let go of what holds me back, to love deeply, and to serve humbly. As I remember Your sacrifice today, may I also reflect Your grace and compassion in a world that desperately needs it. Amen.
Practice Today:
Take a moment to serve someone today in a small but meaningful way—send a word of encouragement, offer help, or simply be present. And as you break bread with someone or eat your meal, remember the One who gave His life so you could truly live.
