Scripture Focus: Esther 8:15 (ESV)
"Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal robes of blue and white, with a great golden crown and a robe of fine linen and purple, and the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced."
Devotional:
There’s something powerful about being properly dressed—not just physically, but spiritually. In Esther 8, we witness a profound moment of transformation for Mordecai. Just chapters before, he was a man in sackcloth, grieving the decree of destruction over his people. But here, he emerges from the king’s presence clothed in royal robes, crowned with honor and walking in divine favor.
This is not just a story of promotion; it's a picture of identity. Mordecai didn’t just receive new clothes—he stepped into a new role, a new authority, and a new season. And just like Mordecai, God desires that we too walk in the full authority of who we are in Him.
The robes Mordecai wore symbolize the righteousness, dignity, and power God bestows upon His children. Through Christ, we are clothed not in shame or fear, but in robes of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10). We wear the crown of life (James 1:12), and we have been seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).
Yet, so many believers still walk around in spiritual rags—dressed in guilt, insecurity, and unworthiness. Why? Because they haven’t accepted or understood their royal identity.
When you understand who you are in Christ, it changes how you pray, how you speak, how you respond to challenges, and how you carry yourself. Like Mordecai, you may have once been unnoticed or even targeted for destruction, but God is able to turn your situation around in an instant.
Reflection Questions:
- Are you walking in the fullness of your identity in Christ?
- What “old garments” do you need to take off—fear, shame, insecurity?
- How can you boldly live out your royal identity this week?
Prayer: Father, thank You for clothing me in Your righteousness and calling me royalty in Christ. Help me to let go of every lie that tells me I am unworthy, and to embrace the truth of who I am in You. May I walk daily in boldness, love, and authority. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Encouragement for Today:
You are not who the world says you are. You are who God says you are—royal, chosen, and dearly loved. Walk like it, live like it, and shine like it.
