Scripture Reading: Esther 6:1-11
Have you ever done something good, yet felt like no one noticed or appreciated it? Have you ever wondered if your sacrifices, acts of kindness, or faithfulness are forgotten? If so, take heart! Esther 6 reminds us that no good deed is ever overlooked in God’s sight.
In this chapter, we see how Mordecai had once saved the king’s life by exposing a plot against him (Esther 2:21-23), but no reward was given at the time. It seemed as if his act of loyalty had been forgotten. However, in God's perfect timing, the king had a sleepless night and was led to review the historical records. It was then that he discovered Mordecai’s good deed and took action to honor him (Esther 6:1-3).
Lessons for Our Lives:
1. God Never Forgets
People may forget your acts of kindness, but God never does. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Your faithfulness in serving, giving, and helping others is recorded in heaven, even if no one acknowledges it now.
2. Your Reward is Coming
Mordecai didn’t demand recognition. He simply did what was right, and in due time, God arranged for his honor. Likewise, you may feel overlooked at work, in ministry, or even in your personal life. But just as God used a sleepless night to remind the king, He will cause the right people to remember you at the right time.
3. Divine Timing is Perfect
Imagine if Mordecai had been rewarded earlier. Haman, who plotted to kill him, might not have faced such a public humiliation. But God orchestrated events so that Mordecai was honored at the moment when his enemy was seeking to destroy him (Esther 6:4-11). Sometimes, delays are divine setups for something greater than we can imagine.
4. Keep Doing Good, Even When No One is Watching
Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward." Stay faithful. Keep serving. Keep sowing kindness. God sees it all.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that no act of kindness, service, or faithfulness goes unnoticed by You. Help me to keep doing good even when I feel unappreciated. I trust that You will reward me at the right time, in the right way. Strengthen my faith to wait for Your perfect timing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Reflection:
- Are there areas in your life where you feel overlooked or unappreciated?
- How can you continue to do good, trusting that God sees and rewards in His timing?
- Take a moment to thank God for His faithfulness and commit to remaining steadfast in your good works.
Be encouraged! Your good deeds will be remembered, and your reward is on its way!
