The Power of a Life Yielded to God

Scripture Reference: Acts 9:31–43

Devotional Content:

In Acts 9:31–43, we see the transformative power of God working through an ordinary man—Peter. This passage highlights two significant miracles: the healing of Aeneas, a paralyzed man, and the resurrection of Tabitha (Dorcas), a beloved woman known for her acts of kindness. These miracles were not the result of Peter’s personal power, fame, or status, but rather his complete yielding to God’s will.

Peter’s posture of surrender is evident in how he responds to each situation—not by elevating himself, but by pointing all glory to Jesus. To Aeneas, Peter says, “Jesus Christ heals you” (v. 34), showing that the authority and power rest solely in Christ. When raising Tabitha, he first prays, then commands her to rise. His dependence on God is unmistakable.

In today’s world, it's easy to think God only uses famous preachers or influencers. But the truth is, God still uses yielded vessels—those who are humble, available, and obedient. Whether you're a teacher, student, entrepreneur, or stay-at-home parent, God wants to move through you to bring healing, hope, and transformation.

A yielded life is marked by:

  1. Humility – Recognizing we’re only vessels, not the source.
  2. Obedience – Acting when God speaks, even if it’s uncomfortable.
  3. Faithfulness – Staying committed in prayer, service, and love.
  4. Availability – Being open to interruptions for divine assignments.

In the noise of the modern world—filled with ambition, self-promotion, and distraction—God is still searching for hearts fully surrendered to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). When we yield, He fills us with His Spirit, works through us, and points others to Himself.

Prayer:
Lord, I surrender all that I am and all that I have to You. Use me for Your glory. Let my life be a vessel through which others encounter You. Amen.
