Key Verse: “Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence.” – Psalm 91:3 (KJV)
Devotional
Life is full of curves we don’t always see coming. You might be walking confidently into a new opportunity, a relationship, or a business venture only to later discover it was a trap. Some traps are spiritual: an unhealthy addiction masked as harmless fun. Others are emotional: trusting the wrong people, falling for lies in the name of love, or overcommitting to things God never called you to.
That’s what the psalmist calls “the snare of the fowler.” A fowler is a bird catcher. He doesn’t throw nets in plain sight; he sets silent, well-hidden traps designed to catch you unaware. And today, that fowler still operates but so does your Deliverer.
The beauty of Psalm 91:3 is in the word “surely.” It’s not a maybe. Not a possibility. It's a certainty. If you make the Lord your refuge, your hiding place, He will deliver you. Not once. Not occasionally. He will make it His business to step into yours and protect you from what you can’t even see.
Real-Life Insight
Have you ever looked back on a situation and thought, “Wow, if I had gone through with that, it would’ve wrecked me”? That’s not coincidence, it’s divine covering. A canceled trip. A lost phone. A rejected application. Sometimes, God's deliverance shows up as delay, redirection, or disappointment. Not because He's punishing you, but because He’s preserving you.
God is not just present in your worship moments; He is present in your everyday decisions. The more you dwell in His secret place (Psalm 91:1), the more sensitive you become to His nudges. That uneasy feeling you had before saying “yes” to that offer? That’s His Spirit working in real time.
Find the Secret Place Again
Many people only run to God when trouble hits, but true safety is in daily intimacy. The secret place isn’t a church building or a scheduled prayer time. It’s that heart posture that says, “God, I don’t want to move unless You lead me.”
You don’t need to be a prophet or a priest to dwell there. You just need to want Him. When God becomes your refuge, you live covered—even in chaos.
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for seeing what I cannot. Deliver me from every hidden snare—spiritual, emotional, relational, and financial. Teach me to dwell in Your presence daily. Keep my heart sensitive to Your leading, and give me the grace to obey quickly. I make You my hiding place. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
