Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus

Scripture: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” — Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)

Life is full of distractions—pressures of work, struggles with sin, battles with fear, and the endless noise of the world. If we are not careful, these weights blur our vision and make us lose sight of our true goal. That’s why the writer of Hebrews calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus, not glance at Him occasionally, but gaze steadily, as a runner locked on the finish line.

Jesus is the Author of our faith. He began the work of salvation in us; our journey did not start by our own strength but by His grace (Philippians 1:6). He is also the Perfecter of our faith, shaping, strengthening, and sustaining us through trials, doubts, and temptations. What He starts, He promises to finish.

How did Jesus endure His own race? He kept His eyes on the joy set before Him—our redemption and His ultimate glory. Though the cross was painful and shameful, He endured because He knew the reward. Today, He is exalted at the right hand of the Father.

In the same way, when we keep our focus on Christ, we find strength to endure our own hardships. Looking at problems drains us. Looking at people disappoints us. But looking at Jesus inspires us, fuels our hope, and keeps us running with perseverance until we reach the finish line.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, fix my eyes on You. Remove every distraction and sin that slows me down. Strengthen me to endure life’s race and finish well, with my gaze set firmly on You. Amen
