“Now may our God and Father Himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 3:11–12
Devotional
Life is full of journeys—career paths, relationships, education, ministry, and even daily routines. Often, we plan and strategize, setting timelines and goals. But Paul’s prayer in this passage reminds us of a simple truth: it is God who directs our steps. He prays that God would “clear the way,” acknowledging that no journey is truly successful without God at the center.
In today’s world, we are tempted to believe that determination, networking, or sheer hard work alone will bring us to where we want to be. While those things matter, Scripture teaches us that unless the Lord builds, our efforts are in vain (Psalm 127:1). Recognizing God in every facet of daily life doesn’t mean being passive—it means actively involving Him in our decisions, relationships, and plans.
This also affects how we treat people along the journey. Paul prayed that love would “increase and overflow.” When God directs our path, He also shapes how we relate to others. Our workplaces become mission fields, our families become training grounds for love, and even casual interactions become opportunities to reflect Christ.
Placing God at the center shifts our perspective: setbacks become lessons, success becomes stewardship, and waiting seasons become refining moments. It means beginning the day in prayer, inviting Him into meetings, asking His wisdom in family matters, and seeking His peace in personal struggles.
A life centered on God doesn’t mean an easier journey, but it guarantees a purposeful one.
Prayer
Father, I invite You into every part of my journey—my work, my family, my dreams, and my struggles. Clear the path before me and teach me to walk in Your love. May my life reflect Your presence in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
