Scripture Reading: Luke 12:35–36 — “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.”
Devotional Reflection:
In a world filled with distractions, it’s easy for our spiritual fire to dim. Jesus calls us to keep our lamps burning — to stay alert, prayerful, and faithful in our walk with Him. The lamp represents our spiritual life, fueled by the oil of the Holy Spirit. Just as the wise virgins in Matthew 25 were prepared when the bridegroom arrived, we too must live ready, not idle or careless.
Our readiness isn’t about fear of missing out but love for the Master who is coming again. Every act of kindness, prayer, or obedience keeps our flame alive. A burning lamp is a sign of hope, faith, and anticipation. Let your life shine so that when the Master returns, He finds you faithfully serving, not slumbering.
Life Application:
- Stay connected to God through daily prayer and Scripture study — this keeps your “oil” fresh.
- Serve faithfully where you are; readiness is shown in action, not just words.
- Guard your spiritual light from being dimmed by sin, discouragement, or compromise.
- Encourage others to keep their lamps burning through fellowship and mutual accountability.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, keep my heart burning with passion for You. Help me to stay watchful, faithful, and filled with Your Spirit. When You return, may You find me ready and shining brightly in service and love. Amen.
