Scripture Reading:
Luke 12:13–15 (NIV)
“Then He said to them, ‘Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.’”
Devotional Reflection:
In a world that measures success by what we own, Jesus reminds us that true life is not defined by possessions. The man in the crowd wanted Jesus to settle an inheritance dispute, but Jesus saw a deeper issue—greed. Our hearts can easily become attached to wealth, titles, and comfort, making us forget that all these things are temporary.
True fulfillment comes from knowing God and living in alignment with His will. The rich fool in this passage thought his possessions guaranteed security, but he forgot that life itself is a gift from God. Without a relationship with Him, even abundance feels empty.
God isn’t against wealth; He’s against misplaced trust. When we make Him our priority, we find peace that no amount of possessions can buy.
Life Application:
Take a moment to evaluate where your sense of worth comes from. Do your possessions define your identity, or does your relationship with God? Choose today to value eternal treasures—faith, love, generosity, and obedience—over material gain. Be intentional about using what you have to bless others and honor God.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to see life through Your eyes. Teach me to value people over possessions and purpose over profit. Guard my heart from greed and fill me with gratitude for all I have. May I always find my worth in You and not in what I own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
