God Sees Everything

Scripture: Ezekiel 8:12 – "Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, have you seen what the elders of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

Devotional Reflection

Have you ever done something in secret, thinking no one would find out? Perhaps a hidden thought, an unnoticed action, or a private sin? In Ezekiel 8, God takes the prophet into a vision where he sees the elders of Israel practicing idolatry in secret. They believed no one could see them, assuming God had abandoned them. But they were wrong—God saw everything.

The same is true today. We may be able to hide our thoughts and actions from people, but we can never hide from God. He sees our hearts, our struggles, and even our deepest secrets. Psalm 139:2 says, "You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar." This is both a sobering and comforting truth. Sobering because it reminds us to live righteously, but comforting because it assures us that God is always aware of our pain, struggles, and needs.

A Call to Integrity

God desires people who live with integrity—not just in public but in private. Integrity is who we are when no one is watching. It’s easy to put on a good image in front of others, but our true character is revealed in secret. Are there areas of your life where you are compromising because you think no one sees?

Instead of hiding, we should bring everything before God. His desire is not to condemn us but to transform us. 1 John 1:9 reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Prayer:

Lord, You see everything—my struggles, my weaknesses, and even the things I try to hide. Help me to walk in integrity and live a life that honors You in both public and private. Search my heart, O God, and lead me in the way everlasting. Amen.

Reflection Question:

  • Are there any hidden areas in your life that you need to surrender to God today?
